The embc esafety area will collate and share information from around the region, both from the Local Authorities and other departments involved in promoting and securing esafety. It will guide you to the lastest news and tools and links to organisations which are there to provide help to children, parents and teachers.

  • Childnet International (include link http://www.childnet-int.org/) is a non-profit making organisation working to help make the Internet a great and safe place for young people. It has a range of leaflets for parents and children in a number of different languages.

  • CEOP http://www.ceop.gov.uk/ The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre maximises international links. Its approach combines police powers and the dedicated expertise of business sectors, government, specialist charities and other interested organisations to tackle child sex abuse.

  • Thinkuknow http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ is linked to CEOP and has more useful information. All hot topics are covered including mobiles, blogging and gaming sites – and users can tell someone via the site if they feel uncomfortable or worried about someone they’re chatting to online.

  • Chatdanger http://www.chatdanger.com/ .Childnet’s Chatdanger website gives details about the potential dangers of interactive services like chat, IM, online games, e-mail and mobiles.

  • Every Child Matters. http://www.everychildmatters.gov.uk/The DfCSF website for Every Child Matters. Advice, information, events and links.

  • Kidsmart. http://www.kidsmart.org.uk/ Kidsmart is an award winning practical internet safety programme website for schools, young people, parents, and agencies, produced by the children's internet charity Childnet International

  • The Northern Grid http://www.portal.northerngrid.org/ also has lots of useful information and links to resources and you will also find a monthly e-safety newsletter.

  • South West Grid for Learning http://www.swgfl.org.uk/  have a Safe page detailing news and useful information on safety.

  • The Becta schools website http://schools.becta.org.uk/ contains information highlighting the safety issues relating to new technologies and provides practical information and advice for schools on how to use these technologies safely.

  • The Internet Watch Foundation http://www.iwf.org.uk/ (IWF) is the only organisation in the UK operating an internet “hotline” for the public to report their exposure to potentially illegal contact online.

 

 LSCB esafety conference

Becta LSCB esafety conference

Held on the 3rd November,  the LSCB esafety leads conference at the East Midlands Conference centre had an excellent turn out with representation from all the East Midlands LSCB Boards. Presentations were given by Jane Barker and David Cheetham,embc, Dr Sam Bishop from the AntiBullying Alliance, Jenny Simpson Leicestershire's Safeguarding Development Officer and from the LSCB's - Caroline Tote from  Leicester City, and Louise Bath from Nottingham City.
