embc Procurement Limited (embc-pl) is a company limited by guarantee wholly owned by Derbyshire, Leicester City, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire and Rutland Councils. The company is operationally known as embc, the East Midlands Broadband Community.
The company's main objective is as an enabling body to assist Local Authorities and schools in meeting their educational aims and obligations. The LAs with embc are focused on achieving enhanced educational outcomes whilst delivering best value for money solutions to achieve these outcomes.
The company provides access to a range of educational and local authority services that exploit and create opportunities through the provision of and access to the East Midlands National Education Network (NEN). The regional network will enable and widen the learning opportunities available to existing schools and users and facilitate the expansion of the user community.
